Meet the Director

Coach Juan Llamas is the Boys Varsity Soccer Coach at McKay High School and was previously the Director of Coaching for the Recreational Program at Mid Valley Soccer Club.

In 2022, Coach Llamas led McKay to the 5A Mid-Willamette Conference Championship and their first OSAA State Championship in school history. The Royal Scots finished the year with a perfect 17-0 record, scoring 55 goals and giving up a state-low 4 goals all season. Coach Llamas was recognized as the 5A Mid-Willamette Conference Coach of the Year and the OSAA 5A State Coach of the Year. Coach Llamas has led McKay to the State tournament in each of his six seasons. Coach Llamas has also been recognized as the 6A Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year.

Prior to McKay, Coach Llamas was the head coach for the Western Oregon University's Soccer Club and an Assistant Coach at Columbia Basin College. While at Columbia Basin, the Hawks reached the NWAACC Final Four for only the second time in school history. In addition to coaching at these schools, Coach Llamas has run soccer camps in Salem, Keizer, Eastern Oregon and an overnight camp at the University of Portland.

In high school, Coach Llamas was captain of his team that reached the State Final for the first time in school history. Coach Llamas continued his playing career at Columbia Basin College and then Western Oregon University. Coach Llamas is excited to share his experience and help high school athletes pursue their collegiate dream!
